Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum three years of experience operating motorized equipment in grounds maintenance.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record; Class A CDL within six months of employment.
• Fertilizer Applicator certification or ability to obtain within six months.
• Registered Technician Certificate from Virginia Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services or ability to obtain within six months.
• First Aid/CPR and forklift certification or ability to obtain within one year.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractors with attachments, mowers, chippers, and other turf equipment for park maintenance.
• Perform mowing, landscaping, athletic field grooming, and general grounds upkeep.
• Assist with turf management activities and apply fertilizers and herbicides as directed.
• Inspect and perform basic maintenance on equipment; report repairs as needed.
• Load/unload and transport tools and materials to worksites; assist with staging for projects.
• Perform basic carpentry, masonry, and hardscape repairs to park amenities.
• Support park maintenance and restoration work and assist with events.
• Support snow removal and countywide emergency response as essential personnel.
• Follow safety policies, PPE use, and traffic/work zone procedures.
