Job summary

City of Dothan is seeking a Fleet Technician I to perform maintenance and repair on city vehicles and equipment. The role requires knowledge of a broad range of repair subjects and the ability to complete work orders and diagnostics in a shop setting.

After successful training and qualification with ASE Certifications in Cars & Light Trucks or Medium Heavy Trucks, progression to Fleet Technician II is possible after three years of continuous service.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years recent experience as a mechanic (maintenance/repair of automotive vehicles – light to medium; gas and diesel powered and minor automatic transmission repair).
• Graduation from standard senior high school or GED, as recognized by USDE/CHEA.

Responsibilities

• Performs engine, exhaust, electrical, brake, hydraulic, HVAC, transmission, and other system repairs on a variety of vehicles and equipment.
• Performs scheduled preventative maintenance functions including checking batteries, fluids, tires, lights, transmissions, exhaust systems, brakes, etc.
• Performs a variety of engine diagnostic procedures.
• Completes required paperwork related to work orders.
• Maintains shop equipment and tools.
• Installs specialized equipment on vehicles and equipment.
