Job summary

The City of Conroe is seeking a Fleet Technician I to work on a range of vehicles and equipment, from cars to heavy trucks, including power generation and electrical golf carts. The role involves inspection, testing, and parts replacement with complex repairs when needed.

Must be able to respond to weather-related emergencies and be willing to stay at a location for an undetermined period. Attendance and punctuality are essential for daily operations and public service delivery.

Qualifications

• Formal training or 2 years fleet experience required.
• Within 6 months, obtain three ASE certifications.
• Within 6 months, MACS certification in Freon, A/C & emissions.
• Texas Safety & Emissions Certification within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance inspections and light repairs on fleet vehicles/equipment.
• Diagnose malfunctions using electronic and computerized diagnostic tools.
• Repair engines, drivetrains, electrical, cooling, and hydraulic systems as needed.
• Ensure safe handling of chemicals and compliance with environmental regulations.
