Job summary

Sunrise Transportation in Crestwood, IL is seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead our Crestwood shop. The role focuses on organizing daily service workflow, ensuring repairs meet safety and quality standards, and driving cost-effective maintenance.

You will partner with senior leadership on budgeting and maintenance planning, train and coach technicians, and manage parts inventory, vendor coordination, and scheduling.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of experience in automotive, heavy-equipment, fleet maintenance, or a related industry.
• 1-3 years of supervisory or management experience preferred.
• ASE certifications preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of DOT rules, regulations, and vehicle safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Organize, prioritize, and manage daily service workflow and shop throughput.
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance are completed safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
• Partner with senior leadership on budgeting, cost-control strategies, and maintenance planning.
• Maintain a strong focus on completing repairs correctly the first time while ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
• Train, coach, and lead technicians in diagnostic procedures, maintenance, and repairs.
• Utilize fleet management software to manage repair orders and track completed repairs and scheduled maintenance.
• Coordinate and manage IDOT safety inspection schedules.
• Maintain parts inventory and oversee ordering of parts, tires, fluids, and other shop supplies.
• Coordinate with outside vendors to ensure outsourced repairs are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Manage employee schedules, shift coverage, and timecard administration.
• Ensure maintenance facilities remain clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
• Work alongside technicians as needed to assist with diagnostics, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs.
• Partner with Operations to ensure vehicles are available, reliable, and prepared to safely transport students.
