Job summary

The City of Austin is seeking a Fleet Service Center Supervisor to manage maintenance and repairs for a large municipal fleet. You will supervise technicians, prioritize work, and ensure quality before releasing equipment to customers.

You will also interact with customer departments, handle service calls, and oversee work orders, parts, and labor charges while enforcing city policies and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Five years of direct work experience in maintenance and repair of complex mechanical equipment.
• Two years in a supervisory or lead capacity.
• Combination of equivalent experience and education may substitute minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the full range of supervisory activities including staff selection, training, evaluation, and dismissal decisions.
• Prioritizes and tracks vehicle maintenance, approves parts orders, and monitors work progress.
• Interacts with customers, reports status, and responds to service calls and complaints.
• Opens and closes work orders, researches work history, and enforces fleet policies.
