Job summary

The City of Austin's Fleet Mobility Department seeks a Fleet Equipment Technician I to assist with maintenance and repair of vehicles and trailers. The role supports essential city services and requires adherence to safety and operational standards.

Under close supervision, you will perform preventive maintenance, document service data, and may be assigned to multiple Austin facilities. A Class C license is required, with CDL within 120 days if applicable.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent.
• Six months of related experience; experience may substitute for education up to four years.
• Certification program in automotive, diesel, or related field or an Associate degree may substitute for up to six months of required experience.

Responsibilities

• Refuels and performs preventive maintenance on a variety of vehicles and equipment.
• Changes all types of tires and repairs small tires.
• Lubricates vehicles and changes oil and filters.
• Initiates minor repairs and replaces belts, hoses, wiper blades, etc.
