Job summary

Great Lakes Petroleum Co. is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to oversee maintenance, reliability, and regulatory compliance of our fuel transport fleet and support vehicles.

This role ensures assets are safe, operationally ready, and maintained in a cost-effective manner. The Fleet Manager will lead maintenance activities, supervise maintenance personnel, manage vendor relationships, and partner with Operations, Transportation, and Safety teams to maximize fleet performance and minimize

Qualifications

  • Five or more years in fleet maintenance or transportation equipment management.
  • Two or more years in supervisory or leadership roles.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy-duty diesel truck and trailer maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations for commercial fleets.
  • Experience managing maintenance vendors and expenses.
  • Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with CMMS and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Manage scheduled and unscheduled maintenance for fuel trucks, trailers, and support vehicles.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain preventive maintenance programs to improve reliability and uptime.
  • Provide leadership and direction to fleet maintenance technicians and service personnel.
  • Schedule and prioritize repairs to support transportation operations.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, EPA, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain maintenance records, inspection documentation, and repair histories.
  • Manage relationships with outside repair facilities, vendors, parts suppliers, and equipment manufacturers.
  • Review maintenance-related purchases and services.
  • Monitor maintenance costs and identify opportunities for savings.
  • Assist with fleet replacement planning and asset utilization.
  • Coordinate emergency repairs and roadside assistance.
  • Support safety initiatives and incident investigations.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
