Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. in Connecticut is seeking a Manager Trainee to learn supervising a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, ensuring safe and timely movement of freight and top-notch customer service.

The role trains you on DOT compliance, payroll, budgeting, driver coaching, and reporting, while aligning with safety culture and coordinating with drivers, customers, and internal teams to optimize fleet operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field OR High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of experience in management/transportation/logistics.
• Willingness to travel to account, customer and company event locations.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends.
• Willingness to regionally relocate dependent on account assignment.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive relationships with drivers and outside carriers to ensure carrier set-up and productivity.
• Fill in for absent personnel and work on projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability.
• Learn to manage driver training/orientation and internal and customer systems.
• Plan and monitor freight movement to meet customer requirements and optimize routing, scheduling, and performance.
• Assist with payroll, Net-Revenue budget, driver coaching, and reporting.
• Coordinate with maintenance for fleet upkeep and safety compliance.
• Resolve service issues and communicate adjusts with drivers, customers, and internal teams.
• Support the safety culture with driver safety messages and training.
