Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Lansing, MI, is seeking a Manager Trainee to learn the management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, while ensuring safe and on-time freight movement and strong customer service.

Training will cover DOT compliance, driver relations, performance reporting, and basic P&L duties as you rotate through roles across fleet operations and admin tasks at customer locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field, or a High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of management/transportation experience.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and weekends.
• Willingness to travel regionally and relocate based on account assignment.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build relationships with drivers and outside carriers for seamless carrier setup and productivity.
• Fill in for absent personnel and support fleet optimization initiatives.
• Train drivers and staff on internal and customer systems and processes.
• Monitor fleet operations and provide reports to improve profitability and KPI performance.
• Assist with payroll, budget management, and payroll/pay issue resolution.
• Coordinate with maintenance to schedule preventive maintenance and safety issues.
