Job summary

The City of San Marcos seeks a Fleet Services Manager to ensure reliable operation of the City’s vehicle and equipment fleet. You will supervise staff, manage maintenance, track parts, and optimize fleet performance and compliance.

You will lead shop operations, maintain records, manage contracts, and coordinate with departments to deliver safe services and timely repairs in a dynamic municipal environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ten years of experience supervising fleet services operations.
• Valid Texas driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• ASE certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operation of City-owned and leased fleet assets to ensure reliability and compliance.
• Develop and administer the Fleet Services Division budget and expenditures.
• Maintain fleet-related contracts; coordinate renewals and quotes with Purchasing.
• Lead personnel management: hiring, training, supervising, evaluating staff, and providing guidance.
• Oversee daily maintenance shop operations and preventative maintenance schedules.
• Maintain fleet management system and records; provide status updates.
• Enforce safety standards and monitor fleet tracking AVL system.
• Respond to maintenance requests and communicate fleet status to departments.
