Job summary

The City of San Marcos, TX seeks a Fleet Services Manager to ensure a reliable city vehicle and equipment fleet, oversee shop operations, and manage maintenance programs. You will lead personnel, coordinate budgets and contracts, and maintain fleet data systems to support essential city services.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 10 years of supervisory fleet experience, and a valid Texas driver's license; ASE certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 10 years of experience supervising fleet services operations.
• Valid Texas driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• ASE Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations of City-owned and leased fleet assets for reliability and compliance.
• Develop and administer the Fleet Services Division budget.
• Manage fleet-related contracts and renewals with the Purchasing Department.
• Lead personnel management: hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff.
• Oversee daily maintenance shop operations and preventive maintenance schedules.
• Maintain the Division's fleet management system and maintenance database with status updates.
• Promote safety standards and monitor compliance; manage AVL system.
• Provide customer service to City departments and address maintenance requests.
• Serve as technical resource for complex mechanical issues; lead deployments as needed.
• Participate in emergency operations and on-call rotations.
