Job summary

University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a Fleet & Operations Assistant to support the department’s vehicle fleet on campus. This in-person, part-time role offers hands-on operations, logistics, and customer service experience in a university setting.

The position reports to the NSHE Specialist and involves vehicle reservations, records management, and daily coordination to ensure vehicles are ready for faculty, staff, and student use. A background check is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong organizational and customer service skills are essential.
• Ability to work independently and follow procedures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data entry is expected.
• Experience with scheduling software is a plus.
• Comfort handling multiple tasks in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate reservations for the NRES Research Truck and NRES Field Trip Vans.
• Check vehicles in and out, document mileage, fuel, cleanliness, and maintenance.
• Prepare vehicles for use—fuel, clean, inspect.
• Drive department vehicles for fueling, maintenance, and inspections as needed.
• Maintain fleet records including mileage, maintenance, and usage.
• Monitor maintenance schedules and notify supervisor when service is needed.
• Assist with tracking authorized drivers and vehicle usage charges.
• Provide friendly, professional customer service to faculty, staff, and students.
• Support other department operations as assigned.
