Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Fleet Mechanic in Houston, TX to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles. You will follow 100% compliance PM programs, use AVMS to track shop duties, and support cost control through purchasing and inventory management.

The role requires 2+ years of fleet repair experience, DOT knowledge, and a high school diploma or GED with automotive training preferred. Schedule is Monday–Friday with some shift flexibility.

Qualifications

• Two years or more experience in fleet vehicle repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Experience with wiring, engine overhaul and preventive maintenance scheduling.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and vehicle standards.
• High school diploma or GED; automotive training is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance to meet 100% compliance.
• Use AVMS fleet management system to track shop operations.
• Assist with cost control through purchasing and inventory management.
• Maintain shop cleanliness and OSHA/DOT standards.
• Repair and maintain engines, brakes, electrical, suspensions, and lift gates.
• Document repairs and inspections according to company guidelines.
• Conduct vehicle inspections and safety-focused repairs.
• Replace parts such as brakes, tires, hoses, and belts.
• Perform other duties within the scope of the role.
