Job summary

Sanders Brothers Construction is seeking a skilled Shop Mechanic to maintain the company fleet of heavy trucks and general vehicles in Charleston, South Carolina. The role supports construction projects with a focus on safety, reliability, and compliance with DOT guidelines.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of automotive diagnostics and repair experience, knowledge of diesel engines, electrical and A/C systems, and owns their own tools.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience with regular and diesel engines.
• Knowledge of engines, transmissions, electrical, A/C, steering, and suspension systems.
• Must have own tools.
• Able to diagnose and repair class 8 trucks, trailers and light trucks (preferred).
• Knowledge of DOT maintenance requirements (preferred).
• Pre-employment drug test/background check will help assure we build teams of people who can best work with others and serve customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair fleet of heavy trucks, trailers, and light vehicles including brakes, hydraulic, exhaust, fuel ignition, electrical, suspension and A/C.
• Adequately explains technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals when required.
• Continuously learns new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions to stay abreast with rapidly changing automotive technology.
• Assist technician mechanics in performing technical activities.
• Keeps company management aware of mechanical repair problems as they occur.
• Maintains an organized neat and safe vehicle repair bay.
