Job summary

Verizon in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced automotive mechanic to maintain and repair fleet vehicles and equipment. You will diagnose problems, perform inspections, and ensure safety and reliability across the fleet.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience as a mechanic or related role.
  • CDL License or Commercial Learner's Permit (CDL required within 6 months).
  • Valid state driver's license with clean record.
  • Certificate for Air Brakes Inspection (Required within 6 months).
  • Certificate for MACS with assigned EPA number (Required within 6 months).
  • Tests must meet company standards.
  • Must meet safety-related requirements (OSHA, state agencies, etc.).
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 100 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repair of all types of motor vehicles and equipment in Verizon fleet.
  • Diagnose, maintain and repair company equipment, including aerial lifts, diggers, generators, tools, etc.
  • Use computer test equipment to diagnose vehicle problems.
  • Interface with vehicle users regarding repairs and questions.
  • Perform OSHA, ANSI, emissions, and state vehicle inspections.
  • Maintain fleet maintenance tracking records, parts inventory and time reporting.
  • Obtain and maintain all required certificates or licenses.
  • Work evenings, weekends, holidays and unscheduled shifts as needed.
