Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Mechanic for the Erie area to inspect, repair and maintain transportation and construction equipment. Under supervision you will perform diagnostics, servicing, and minor repairs on fleet assets, with emphasis on safety and compliance.

The role requires a PA CDL, state inspection license, and 1–2 years of mechanic experience. You will operate diagnostic tools and coordinate with the team to keep assets on the road and in service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Reside within 40-minute travel time of the service location.
• Must possess a Pennsylvania Class A CDL license with endorsements.
• Must possess a Class 4 or Class 7 Pennsylvania State Inspection License.
• Minimum 1-2 years previous mechanic experience.
• Must submit to our pre-employment physical and substance screenings.
• Background investigation will include a driver’s abstract from Pennsylvania DMV.

Responsibilities

• Pack and repair mechanical components, including bearings, brakes, transmissions, and drivetrains.
• Inspect, repair, overhaul, adjust and maintain all types of transportation and construction equipment under supervision.
• Prepare time sheets, records, purchase orders, and fuel/oil logs as required.
• Refuel and perform periodic lubrication and daily fuel checks.
• Occasionally perform other related or less skilled work or operate automotive equipment as directed.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to diagnose and troubleshoot vehicle and equipment issues.
