Job summary

Smart Foodservice Stores is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on diesel fleet equipment at our maintenance facility. The role offers a tool allowance, competitive pay, and overtime opportunities.

Expect DOT-compliant maintenance, documentation on the fleet system tablet, and collaboration with senior technicians in a safety-focused environment. A valid driver’s license and tools are required.

Qualifications

• 1 year of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic.
• Must furnish own personal hand tools.
• Able to read and write legibly; basic mathematical skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance within DOT standards.
• Complete repairs on diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, bobtails, lift gates).
• Take directions from senior technicians and assist with repairs.
• Document repairs and parts used using the fleet maintenance tablet.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment per rules and regulations.
• Be willing to increase responsibilities and certifications.

Basic Purpose

To provide a safe and reliable fleet by performing preventative maintenance and proper repairs on all fleet equipment.

Fleet Mechanics may earn up to $37.00 per hour PLUS overtime!

401K with 2% automatic company contribution plus company match up to an additional 6%.

Schedule

Sunday - Thursday 10:00PM to 6:00 AM

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform preventative maintenance within DOT standards.
• Complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (i.e., tractors, trailers, bobtails, lift gates, etc.).
• Take directions from and assist senior technicians with repairs.
• Utilize fleet maintenance system tablet to fully document equipment repair and parts used.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules/regulations and government guidelines.
• Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certifications.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.

Internal: All Fleet Technicians, Drivers, Coordinators and Manager

External: N/A

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Onsite: The associate in this role is expected to perform assigned responsibilities inside a US Foods maintenance facility.

Ability to work flexible schedule.

Must be willing to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have 1 year of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic.
• Must furnish own personal hand tools.
• Able to read and write legibly (e.g., to attend trainings, hold conversations, receive safety and job-related coaching, and enter information on reports if needed); basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, divide).

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent required.

LICENSES

Must possess a valid driver's license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid Class A CDL license and DOT certification
• Experience with Maximo fleet maintenance system
• Previous mechanical and PM program experience
• Experience using fleet maintenance software
• Welding ability

Compensation

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between $29.00 to $37.00

This role may also receive overtime compensation.
