Job summary

TerraFirma is seeking a hands-on Fleet Manager to own heavy equipment fleet management, material sourcing, and trucking logistics across projects in Texas. You will support a growing fleet of up to 100 machines, ensuring equipment readiness, on-time material supply, and efficient field production.

This is a build-role that creates the vendor network and systems connecting field activity to engineering and finance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in heavy civil fleet management, equipment operations, or construction logistics with direct maintenance/vendor coordination.
• Strong knowledge of earthmoving equipment, service requirements, repair prioritization, and cost control.
• Experience negotiating with quarries, material suppliers, equipment dealers, service providers, and trucking contractors.

Responsibilities

• Track machine location, hours, condition, utilization, maintenance, downtime, and cost; set repair priorities.
• Manage fleet readiness: preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, fueling, parts, and records; oversee mechanics and vendors.
• Coordinate equipment assignments, mobilization, transfers, and demobilization with project teams.
• Manage fleet budgets, rentals, off-rents, warranties; make purchase/replacement recommendations.
• Own quarry and supplier relationships for aggregate, base, select fill; negotiate pricing and delivery terms.
• Coordinate material imports/exports, stockpiles, and disposal sites; confirm specs and capacity.
• Build and manage a dependable carrier network; secure trucking capacity and negotiate rates.
• Balance loading, haul cycles, and receiving capacity to hit production targets.
• Provide accurate equipment/material costs and lead times to estimators; feed project costs into bids.
• Partner with engineering/finance to connect fleet tracking, dispatch, tickets, and payments.
• Track performance; drive corrective actions and grow the team as volume increases.
