Job summary

Morris, Inc. in South Dakota is seeking a Fleet Manager to optimize our construction fleet and lead data-driven decisions. You will analyze utilization, costs, and fuel, and guide acquisitions while ensuring reliability and compliance across operations.

You will coordinate maintenance, manage telematics and ERP systems, and drive continuous improvement in efficiency and cost control. This on-site role engages with operations, accounting, and management to shape national fleet strategy.

Qualifications

  • Valid South Dakota driver's license.
  • Experience with fleet analysis and equipment management.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn fleet management software.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience implementing processes and managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform occasional physical work.
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze equipment utilization, operating costs, fuel consumption, and internal rental rates to support business decisions.
  • Develop recommendations for equipment acquisition, replacement, retention, and disposal.
  • Create and maintain equipment lifecycle plans and replacement schedules.
  • Monitor fleet performance using telematics and fleet management technology.
  • Administer and maintain the company's fleet management software (Tenna).
  • Schedule and monitor preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, certifications, and annual repairs.
  • Manage preventive maintenance intervals according to manufacturer recommendations.
  • Create, track, and analyze repair work orders for shop and field technicians.
  • Evaluate major repairs and recommend cost-effective options.
  • Upload equipment meter readings and maintain maintenance records.
  • Coordinate bulk fuel purchasing, deliveries, storage systems, and inventory.
  • Monitor fuel usage trends to improve efficiency and reduce loss.
  • Administer fuel cards, PINs, and purchasing accounts.
  • Prepare monthly fuel usage reports for management review and theft prevention.
  • Complete quarterly fuel tax filings.
  • Coordinate pre-purchase inspections and equipment auctions.
  • Manage titles, registrations, license plates, liens, UCC filings, and financing records.
  • Process equipment purchases and disposals within the ERP system.
  • Assign and retire equipment unit numbers.
  • Coordinate equipment insurance additions, removals, and claims.
  • Manage all aspects of rented equipment including utilization, billing, and documentation.
  • Complete weekly equipment usage billing and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate fleet records, documentation, and compliance files.
  • Identify opportunities to improve fleet performance, reliability, efficiency, and overall operating costs.

What You'll Earn

$26.51 - $33.88 per hour | Depending on experience

What You'll Do
Analyze & Improve the Fleet
  • Analyze equipment utilization, operating costs, fuel consumption, and internal rental rates to support business decisions.

Where You'll Work

Based in Central South Dakota, you'll work closely with our maintenance shop, field operations, accounting team, and management to oversee one of the region's most diverse construction fleets. This position combines office work with time spent in the shop and around equipment, giving you a direct impact on daily operations and long‑term fleet strategy.
