Job summary

Morris, Inc. in Central South Dakota seeks a Fleet Manager to optimize equipment performance and reduce operating costs. You will use data, technology, and planning to guide major purchasing decisions and ensure fleet reliability, safety, and compliance.

You’ll work with operations, mechanics, accounting, and management to keep the fleet productive and ready for the next project, while administering fleet software and maintenance schedules.

Qualifications

• Valid South Dakota driver’s license is required.
• Experience analyzing fleet operations and managing equipment.
• Strong computer skills and ability to learn fleet software.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience implementing processes and managing multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Analyze equipment utilization, costs, fuel, and internal rental rates for decisions.
• Develop recommendations for acquisition, replacement, retention, and disposal.
• Create and maintain equipment lifecycle plans and replacement schedules.
• Monitor fleet performance using telematics and fleet management technology.
• Administer and maintain the fleet management software (Tenna).
• Schedule preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, and repairs.
• Manage maintenance intervals per manufacturer guidance.
• Track and analyze repair work orders for shop and field techs.
• Evaluate major repairs and cost-effective options.
• Upload meter readings and maintain maintenance records.
• Coordinate bulk fuel purchasing, deliveries, and inventory.
• Monitor fuel usage trends and administer fuel cards and accounts.
• Prepare monthly fuel usage reports and quarterly tax filings.
• Oversee pre-purchase inspections and equipment auctions.
• Manage titles, registrations, liens, and financing records.
• Process purchases and disposals in ERP; assign unit numbers.
• Coordinate insurance additions/removals and claims.
• Manage rented equipment, utilization, billing, and documentation.
• Complete weekly equipment usage billing and reporting; maintain records.
• Identify improvements to fleet performance, reliability, and costs.
