Job summary

Metro-North Railroad seeks an Assistant Director – Fleet Management in New York, NY. This role provides centralized control to maximize the fleet’s use, making real-time decisions to support operations and maintenance goals.

You will supervise Fleet Managers and Clerks, coordinate maintenance, and drive efficiency initiatives while ensuring safety and compliance across the fleet. Telework eligible, with a 2:00 PM–10:00 PM shift and a salary range noted above.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent in Business, Transportation, Engineering or related field.
• Minimum five years in a Rail Transit Operation environment with fleet planning, movement, deployment or maintenance.
• Minimum three years’ experience managing a workforce, process or project.

Responsibilities

• Direct train to ensure consist compliance with safety regulations, requirements, equipment availability and service schedules.
• Coordinate and oversee the movement of scheduled and non-scheduled equipment maintenance and repairs.
• Monitor fleet availability, defect trends, and out-of-service records; analyze consist shortages and develop equipment cycling schedules.
