Job summary

Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) seeks a Fleet Manager at Grand Central Station to lead centralized control and coordination of rolling stock, ensuring availability and alignment with service needs.

The role supports the Assistant Directors in the Fleet Management Office, driving efficiency, reducing fleet assets, and controlling costs while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance across Transportation and MofE teams.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum 3 years in Conductor, Locomotive Engineer, Rail Traffic Controller, Yardmaster, Fleet Management Office Clerk, or similar roles.
• Minimum 2 years of supervising and/or managing a workforce, process or projects.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and report fleet status during a service day with analysis and recommendations.
• Assist Directors in providing fleet manipulations to support service.
• Coordinate with staff to solicit rolling stock availability and maintain critical systems data.
• Communicate fleet status to OCC, Transportation and Mechanical teams; ensure data accuracy.
• Distribute special equipment manipulations and coordinate with various groups.
• Plan and coordinate scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance and repairs.
• Coordinate with personnel on field evaluation, disposition, and repair of defective equipment.
• Promote a safe work environment and safe practices.
• Select, develop and motivate staff; manage performance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
