Job summary

PepsiCo is seeking Fleet Mechanics in Cranston, Rhode Island, to ensure fleet reliability and support driver safety. The role requires independent work on various equipment, performing preventive maintenance and repairs with advanced technology.

The ideal candidates will have mechanical knowledge of gas and diesel repair, experience with hydraulic systems, and the ability to perform physical tasks. A basic set of hand tools is required; diagnostic equipment will be provided. Competitive pay at $33.65 per hour and excellent benefits are offered.

Job Summary

Fleet Mechanics play a key role in the success of PBNA, ensuring fleet reliability and supporting driver safety. They work independently while receiving coaching and direction, handle a variety of equipment and repairs, and maintain documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) and repairs with high independence.
• Use advanced technology and programs (voice application, Noregon diagnostics, Mitchell 1, Uptake predictive analytics, TAAS, etc.).
• Repair a diverse fleet: automobiles, trucks (light & heavy), vans, and forklifts.
• Diagnose vehicle failures, disassemble, repair, and reassemble components.
• Maintain vehicle records and pre-trip checklists.
• Answer service calls.
• Support maintenance of one of the largest fleets in North America.

Requirements

• Must own basic hand tools; diagnostic and high‑tech equipment will be provided.
• Capable of performing physical tasks: lifting, pinching, bending, reaching, climbing, and handling objects.
• Minimum age 18 years.
• Pass Forklift Driving Skills test (if applicable).
• Mechanical knowledge of gas and diesel repair.
• Experience with hydraulic and air brake systems.
• Knowledge of internal combustion engines.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance.

Helpful Experience

• Repairing forklifts, including propane fuel/electric battery systems, hydraulic systems, pallet jacks.
• Using computers (iPad, desktop, handheld, laptop) for diagnostics (Noregon/Autometer), voice application, and work orders on INFOR; familiarity with Geotab.
• Working with manufacturing standards (Mitchell 1, OEM support tools, electronic systems).
• Operating trucks with a valid U.S. Class A or B CDL.
• Repairing heavy‑duty equipment (class 8, 7, 6 trucks, brakes, tires, engines, liftgates, thermo‑king heater & refuse units).
• Repairing light trucks (EV trucks, gas‑diesel trucks, vans, support vehicles).
