Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep fleet running through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and timely repairs. The role requires reading precision instruments, welding when needed, and adherence to DOT and OSHA standards.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, experience in maintenance, and must provide their own tools. CDL may be required depending on position.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent is required.
• Experience as a maintenance technician or equivalent.
• Experience with truck repair, body and frame repair.
• Must provide own tools to perform job duties.
• Ability to complete required paperwork and records.
• Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (when required).
• Knowledge of systems on trucks, trailers, or dollies.
• Ability to read precision instruments (micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, voltmeters, multi-meters).
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform failure analysis on truck systems.
• Knowledge of DOT, EPA, ICC and OSHA rules and regulations.
• Willing to participate in training classes offered by the company.

Responsibilities

• Repair company equipment in a safe, timely, cost effective and practical manner.
• Perform preventative maintenance and general repairs.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, or other breakdowns on trucks and related equipment.
• Read and interpret precision instruments and electronic diagnostic tools.
• Troubleshoot and perform failure analysis on component parts and systems.
• Weld on converter dollies and truck components as required.
• Comply with DOT, EPA, ICC, OSHA rules and regulations.
• Maintain customer relations and assist in safety compliance.
