Job summary

ADUSA Transportation is seeking a Maintenance Manager to oversee repair and preventive maintenance for the fleet. You will supervise shop staff, schedule repairs, and drive cost-efficiency while promoting safety and lean initiatives.

The role focuses on supporting a large grocery distribution network with a strong emphasis on quality and safety compliance. Qualifications include a High School Diploma or higher, 5+ years in maintenance, and preferably a CDL.

Qualifications

• Understanding of parts, supplies, and tools required to support shop operations.
• Ability to direct subordinates in approved maintenance techniques.
• Ability to perform road tests and similar checks to review the effectiveness of repair and maintenance work performed by mechanics.
• Ability to advise and provide interpretation to subordinates regarding the application of corporate policies, procedures, and standards.
• Valid driver license; CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the shop staff including recruitment, training, and evaluation of employees.
• Promote morale and teamwork within the maintenance facility.
• Attend drivers meetings to receive feedback regarding shop operation.
• Schedule and prioritize vehicle repairs to meet operational requirements.
• Assist with evaluating maintenance costs and make recommendations.
• Control costs by comparing parts, supplies, and vendor costs.
• Provide input to procedural and operational changes to reduce costs or improve productivity.
• Assist with developing yearly budget targets for the maintenance facility.
• Respond to safety audits in a timely fashion.
• Promote safety and good housekeeping methods.
• Ensure shop tools are in safe working order.
• Conduct monthly shop and safety meetings with mechanics.
• Review repair orders to monitor preventive/repair requests.
• Audit work completed by mechanics and evaluate repairs for in-house vs outside vendor.
• Ensure monthly inventory of parts to meet needs.
• Work with mechanics to analyze problems and schedule corrections.
• Ensure tractors and trailers are cleaned to promote a positive fleet image.
• Inspect newly purchased equipment for conformance to specifications (DC-1).
• Perform in-service inspections and required modifications for fleet (cars and service trucks).
• Pursue waste and inefficiencies in operations.
• Target improvements and work with teams to improve throughput.
• Act as change agent to drive lean education and utilization.
• Develop a Continuous Improvement mindset to better service customers and train associates.
