Job summary

McLane is seeking a Transportation Maintenance Supervisor to coordinate repairs, maintenance, and capital projects, teach technicians, manage data in maintenance software, and maintain a safe, efficient workshop.

Lead a team with strong leadership, budgeting, and vendor relationships. Must have 4-year degree, 5+ years supervision, and diesel/heavy equipment expertise, with flexibility for shifts and travel.

Qualifications

• Have a 4-year degree or equivalent professional training and experience in heavy maintenance discipline.
• Have 5 or more years of maintenance supervision experience in an automotive or heavy-duty shop.
• Possess outstanding leadership qualities, including assertiveness, organization, enthusiasm, decisiveness, planning, confidence and accountability.
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Possess strong analytical skills.
• Be willing to work flexible hours.
• Have strong technical working knowledge of Medium/Heavy equipment.
• Possess computer skills including Windows, MSOffice and maintenance related computer systems.
• Have 5 - 7 years job experience on major diesel repairs, heavy duty tractor- trailer repairs, major refrigeration maintenance and repairs.
• Possess a Valid Class C Driver's License. Prefer Class A.
• Preferred knowledge to handle all trailer and reefer repairs.
• Have half of the following certifications with the other half achieved in 90 days of employment: ASE certifications in brakes, suspension/steering, engine knowledge, brakes, etc.
• Have knowledge of OSIIA, EPA, DOT and CSA procedures and safety regulations.
• Reading/writing English at an operational level.

Responsibilities

• Develop budgets for repair, maintenance, supplies, third party support and spare parts inventory.
• Negotiate maintenance contracts and other third-party support for the Transportation.
• Coordinate daily activities of Technicians and motivate the team to achieve productivity and safety targets.
• Ensure training and development on technical aspects of transportation maintenance.
• Maintain staffing, training and certifications requirements.
• Utilize Fleet Assistant to optimize asset utilization through preventive maintenance.
• Monitor expenses by function and equipment.
• Provide hands-on repairs as needed.
• Maintain spare parts inventory and vendor relationships.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and peers.
• Work nights and weekends if required.
