Job summary

McLane is seeking a Transportation Maintenance Supervisor to coordinate repairs, maintenance, and Capital Expense projects, while mentoring technicians and maintaining safe, efficient shop operations.

You will manage budgets, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely, quality work on heavy-duty equipment, tractors, trailers, and refrigeration systems, with a hands-on approach when needed.

Qualifications

• Have 4-year degree or equivalent professional training and experience in heavy maintenance discipline.
• Have 5 or more years of maintenance supervision experience in automotive or heavy-duty shop.
• Outstanding leadership qualities and accountability.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills and knowledge of medium/heavy equipment.
• Willing to work flexible hours.
• Computer skills including Windows, MS Office and maintenance systems.
• 5-7 years job experience on major diesel and heavy repairs, refrigeration maintenance.
• Valid Class C Driver's License; Class A preferred.
• Knowledge of OSIIA, EPA, DOT and CSA procedures.
• Ability to read/write English for job tasks.

Responsibilities

• Develop budgets for repair, maintenance, supplies, and parts inventory.
• Negotiate maintenance contracts and third-party support.
• Coordinate daily activities of Technicians and ensure productivity and safety.
• Ensure training and development on repairs including refrigeration and heavy equipment.
• Maintain staffing, training, and certifications.
• Use Fleet Assistant to optimize asset utilization with preventive maintenance.
• Monitor expenses by function and equipment.
• Provide hands-on repairs when needed.
• Maintain spare parts inventory and vendor relationships.
• Work nights/weekends if required.
• Ensure safety compliance with regulations.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and peers.
