Job summary

Douglas County is seeking an experienced Fleet Supervisor to lead a diverse team of mechanics in performing complex maintenance and repair work for the County's fleet of vehicles and equipment.

You will oversee day-to-day supervision, assign and prioritize work, ensure preventive maintenance compliance, and provide technical guidance to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective shop operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduation from automotive, diesel, or heavy-equipment technical program preferred.
• Eight (8) years of fleet-based automotive/diesel experience.
• One (1) year of fleet lead or supervisory experience.
• A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and performs maintenance and repair activities for vehicles and equipment.
• Provides day-to-day supervision, assigns work, and conducts training.
• Reviews timesheets and assists with scheduling staffing needs.
• Implements preventive maintenance programs to ensure reliability and cost-effectiveness.
• Coordinates with Parts Department to manage parts and inventory.
• Analyzes fleet utilization to optimize maintenance schedules.
• Develops training and certification programs for technicians.
• Reviews work orders and maintains documentation.
• Prepares FMCSA inspections and maintains records.
• Tracks warranty claims to reduce costs.
• Monitors emissions compliance and performs technical maintenance as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
