Job summary

Livingston County is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager for LETS to oversee our county fleet, coordinate repairs with departments and vendors, and supervise maintenance activities. The role involves inspecting vehicles, managing invoices, and ensuring compliance with transit guidelines.

Strong diagnostic and communication skills are essential to prepare reports and schedule workloads. The ideal candidate will have a Michigan Master Auto Mechanic certification, a CDL Class C with passenger

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with mechanical/maintenance coursework.
• Michigan Master Auto Mechanic certification.
• Michigan CDL Class C with passenger endorsement.
• Extensive knowledge of fleet maintenance and vehicle systems.
• Ability to prepare detailed records and reports.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage County fleet and coordinate repairs with departments/vendors.
• Inspect vehicles and determine necessary repairs.
• Oversee work by outside vendors and on-site inspections.
• Operate tools and perform tune-ups/oil changes.
• Assist with minor diagnostic repairs as needed.
• Prepare inspection reports and forward to data entry.
• Use fleet management and Microsoft software to prepare reports.
• Coordinate repair bids and quotes from vendors.
• Attend conferences, workshops, and seminars.
• Assist the Director evaluating new fleet vehicles.
• Prepare calendars for scheduling workload and communicate schedules.
• Conduct vehicle inspections and document work performed.
• Install parts as needed and input data into system.
• Review work orders and obtain price quotes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
