Job summary

Bonneville County is seeking an experienced Shop Foreman to lead the Fleet Maintenance Shop and perform master-level mechanical work on a wide range of county vehicles and equipment.

You will supervise Mechanics I–III and Welder/Fabricators, oversee daily schedules, ensure preventive maintenance, and drive a culture of safety and quality. This leadership role requires strong diagnostic and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of specialized coursework in diesel/auto maintenance and diagnostics or welding.
• Six years of experience performing major repairs on gasoline/diesel vehicles.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience allowed.
• Must obtain Idaho Class A CDL within 9 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily shop schedules, assignments, and priorities.
• Coordinate vehicle and equipment maintenance program.
• Lead mechanics and provide technical direction on complex repairs.
• Perform master-level diagnosis, maintenance, and repairs on fleet assets.
• Supervise and develop shop staff; conduct evaluations and training.
• Ensure safety and quality standards in all shop operations.
• Maintain parts, tools, and shop inventory; manage documentation.
