Job summary

The City of McKinney invites applications for a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor who will oversee maintenance and repair of city fleet vehicles and heavy equipment, manage preventive maintenance schedules, and supervise technicians to ensure safety and readiness.

You will coordinate with service writers, manage parts, document in the FMIS, monitor performance metrics, and assist with budgeting and vendor management while upholding the City’s RISE values.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; five years of progressively responsible experience in automotive repair or municipal fleet maintenance.
• Two years of lead or supervisory experience overseeing technical maintenance personnel.
• ASE certifications required; Master Automobile Technician and/or Master Medium/Heavy Truck Technician within the first 12 months of hire.
• Vocational/technical degree preferred; CPFP or CAFM preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance and repair of City fleet vehicles and heavy equipment to ensure safety and readiness.
• Determine in-house vs outsourced repairs based on cost and workload, coordinate warranty claims and dealer repairs.
• Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules and monitor PM compliance.
• Supervise technicians, assign priorities, and ensure safety compliance and standards.
• Coordinate with Service Writer and Inventory Specialist for work orders, parts, and scheduling.
• Ensure thorough documentation in FMIS and support budgeting and cost control.
