Job summary

Transdev is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead a team of mechanics, bus washers and administrative staff in Bedford Park, IL. You will supervise daily maintenance operations, prioritize repairs, coordinate with outside vendors and ensure equipment remains safe and compliant with DOT and client standards.

The position requires 7+ years of heavy‑duty repair/maintenance experience, 3+ years of supervision, and strong Microsoft Office skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• CDL Class B (or higher) with passenger and airbrake endorsements preferred.
• 7+ years experience in repair/maintenance of heavy-duty transit equipment.
• 3+ years supervisory experience.
• Broad understanding of mechanical systems for heavy-duty vehicles.
• Familiar with regulations for safe maintenance facilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work shifts or flexible schedules.
• DOT drug testing compliance per 49 CFR Part 40.

Responsibilities

• Hire, train and schedule Maintenance Technicians.
• Approve priority of maintenance and repairs based on materials availability and operations needs.
• Coordinate and oversee work performed by outside vendors.
• Ensure equipment is maintained and operating efficiently.
• Manage inventory.
• Implement safety policies per corporate requirements.
• Participate in budget development and administration.
• Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods.
• Other duties as required.
• Travel requirement outside of immediate area 10%.
