Job summary

The Fleet Maintenance Manager at Ashley Furniture Industries oversees daily shop operations, manages a 35-person maintenance team, and drives VMRS-compliant processes to maximize uptime and control costs in a fast-paced distribution environment.

This leadership role requires strong strategic planning, inventory control, and hands-on troubleshooting across heavy-duty trucks and trailers, with a focus on safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Vehicle Maintenance or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 7 years of heavy vehicle shop maintenance experience.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with computer-based inventory and maintenance management systems.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage daily maintenance shop operations including scheduling, workflow, priorities, and resource allocation.
• Monitor and review work orders for accuracy, parts usage, labor efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
• Maintain VMRS compliance and company maintenance standards.
• Manage inventory systems and optimize parts procurement to minimize downtime.
• Coordinate on-road breakdown support to resolve issues quickly and cost-effectively.
• Audit shop operations for adherence to SOPs.
