Job summary

Ashley Furniture Industries is seeking a Senior Manager, Regional Fleet Maintenance to lead fleet maintenance across designated locations and drive uptime, safety, and cost efficiency. Summary

The Senior Manager, Regional Fleet Maintenance is responsible for leading fleet maintenance operations across a designated region to ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective performance of the company's transportation fleet. This role provides strategic and operational leadership to multiple maintenance shops and teams, driving consistency in maintenance practices, regulatory compliance, asset reliability, and technician development.

Reporting to the Director of Fleet Maintenance, the Senior Manager partners closely with fleet operations, transportation leaders, vendors, and maintenance teams to execute long-term maintenance strategies, improve shop performance, optimize maintenance spend, and support business objectives. This leader leverages data, key performance indicators, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance fleet uptime, safety, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction for regional fleet maintenance operations across multiple locations.
  • Lead, coach, and develop maintenance managers, shop leaders, supervisors, and technicians to build a high-performing organization.
  • Drive execution of preventive maintenance programs, repair processes, and asset reliability initiatives.
  • Partner with the Director of Fleet Maintenance to implement strategic initiatives that improve fleet performance, operational efficiency, and cost control.
  • Establish and monitor maintenance performance metrics, including uptime, repair costs, PM compliance, technician productivity, and safety performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all DOT, OSHA, EPA, and company policies and procedures.
  • Oversee maintenance planning and scheduling to maximize fleet availability and minimize downtime.
  • Manage regional maintenance budgets, capital expenditures, and expense controls while identifying opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements.
  • Conduct routine audits, inspections, and operational reviews to ensure adherence to maintenance standards and best practices.
  • Evaluate and improve maintenance processes, systems, and workflows through continuous improvement efforts.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and external service providers to ensure quality service and competitive pricing.
  • Support vendor selection, contract negotiations, and performance management activities.
  • Analyze maintenance, repair, and operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on fleet maintenance systems, diagnostic technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with transportation, safety, finance, procurement, and operations leaders to support business objectives.
  • Lead succession planning, workforce development, technical training, and technician retention initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence throughout the region.
Qualifications Required
Education
  • Associate's degree in Diesel Technology, Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of progressive fleet maintenance experience may be considered.
Experience
  • 8+ years of progressive fleet maintenance experience supporting commercial transportation fleets.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing maintenance operations, multiple facilities, or regional maintenance teams.
  • Demonstrated experience leading maintenance managers, supervisors, or shop leaders.
  • Experience managing maintenance budgets, workforce planning, and operational performance metrics.
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements and achieve measurable operational results.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Transportation, or a related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of heavy-duty fleet maintenance operations, asset management, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing maintenance operations across multiple locations or geographic regions.
  • Strong understanding of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
  • Experience with fleet maintenance software, telematics platforms, and diagnostic technologies.
  • Proven success implementing continuous improvement methodologies and reliability-focused maintenance programs.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting, and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Exceptional leadership, coaching, and organizational development skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • High degree of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.

This position is located in an active industrial manufacturing and distribution center with moderate to high noise levels, temperature variations, and material handling equipment in operation. The role may require extended periods of standing or walking on concrete floors and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and steel-toed boots. The fast-paced environment involves time-sensitive and safety sensitive operations and may include various shift schedules to support production and distribution needs.
