Patriot Disposal / Apple Valley Waste in the Mid- Atlantic region seeks a Fleet Maintenance Manager to lead a team of technicians and oversee the maintenance, repair, and reliability of a diverse diesel and alternative-fuel fleet across locations. This role directs a group of technicians and maintenance supervisors to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; Diesel Tech certification or technical school preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years as a Maintenance Manager or Supervisor in transportation, waste management, or similar heavy equipment-intensive industry.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA HazCom, Lock Out/Tag Out, and other safety regulations.
• Advanced mechanical skills across diesel engines, electrical, hydraulic, HVAC, suspension, and preventive maintenance.
• Demonstrated ability to lead high-performance teams and drive operational results.
• ASE Certifications: T2--T8 highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Directs technicians and maintenance supervisors across shifts and locations.
• Preventive Maintenance: Develops and oversees preventive maintenance programs; monitors metrics to reduce breakdowns.
• Work Planning & Scheduling: Plans maintenance and repair work to maximize shop efficiency and reduce overtime.
• Facility Oversight: Manages on-site equipment and building maintenance; ensures safety and environmental compliance.
• Vendor & Contractor Management: Oversees external repair work for quality and cost control.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensures compliance with OSHA, DOT, and fire safety protocols.
• Quality Control: Conducts QC inspections and root cause analysis of failures.
• Technical Knowledge Application: Applies diesel, electrical, hydraulic, HVAC, and welding knowledge to guide repairs and training.
• Administrative Oversight: Manages payroll, records, logs, reporting, and budgets; forecasts spend.
• Training & Development: Identifies training needs and supports career progression.
