Patriot Disposal / Apple Valley Waste is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead a diverse fleet maintenance team across locations, ensuring safe, reliable operation of diesel and alternative-fuel equipment. You will manage preventive maintenance, scheduling, vendor oversight, and budgets while driving uptime and cost efficiency.

The role requires strong leadership, hands-on problem solving, and extensive knowledge of diesel systems, electrical, hydraulics, and HVAC.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Diesel Tech certification or technical school graduate preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Maintenance Manager or Supervisor in transportation, waste management, or similar heavy equipment‑intensive industry.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA HazCom, Lock Out/Tag Out, and other safety regulations.
• Advanced mechanical skills across diesel engines, electrical, hydraulic, HVAC, suspension, and preventive maintenance.
• Demonstrated ability to lead high‑performance teams and drive operational results.
• ASE Certifications: T2--T8 highly preferred.
• Graduate of a Diesel Technical Institute.
• Prior experience in the waste/environmental services industry.
• Experience using fleet maintenance systems (e.g., eMaintenance, TMW, or equivalent).

Responsabilités

• Lead technicians and maintenance supervisors across shifts and locations.
• Develop and oversee preventive maintenance programs; monitor performance metrics to reduce breakdowns.
• Coordinate and schedule maintenance to maximize shop efficiency and reduce overtime.
• Manage on‑site equipment and building maintenance; ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Oversee external repair work to ensure quality, safety, and cost‑effectiveness.
• Ensure adherence to OSHA, DOT, and fire safety protocols.
• Conduct quality control inspections and root cause analysis of failures.
• Apply knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, HVAC, and welding to guide repair protocols.
• Manage payroll, employee records, eMaintenance logs, reporting, and budgets.
• Identify training needs; coach and develop team members.
• Track KPIs and drive continuous improvement to increase uptime and cost‑efficiency.
