Job summary

Patriot Disposal / Apple Valley Waste is seeking a Maintenance Manager in Chambersburg, PA to oversee maintenance, repair, and reliability of a diverse fleet and heavy equipment. You’ll lead technicians and supervisors, manage budgets, safety, and regulatory compliance to minimize downtime and costs.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, scheduling, and continuous improvement in a fast-growing waste and recycling company with opportunities for ASE certification support and career growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Diesel tech certification preferred.
• 3+ years as Maintenance Manager or Supervisor in heavy equipment industries.
• ASE certifications T2–T8 highly preferred.
• Experience with fleet maintenance systems (eMaintenance, TMW, or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Lead technicians and maintenance supervisors across shifts and locations.
• Develop comprehensive preventive maintenance programs and monitor metrics to reduce breakdowns.
• Coordinate and schedule maintenance to maximize shop efficiency and reduce overtime.
• Manage on-site equipment and shop facilities ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee external repair work for quality, safety, and cost control.
• Ensure adherence to OSHA, DOT and company safety protocols.
• Apply technical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, HVAC, and welding to guide repairs and training.
• Oversee payroll, records, logs, reporting, and departmental budgets; forecast spend.
• Identify training needs and support career development and performance evaluations.
• Track KPIs and implement improvements to increase uptime and cost-efficiency.
