Job summary

Universal Logistics Holdings, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Manager to oversee the daily operations of the maintenance shop supporting its fleet and equipment. The role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance while leading technicians and maintaining regulatory compliance across logistics services.

You will manage shop operations, schedule work orders, oversee parts procurement, and mentor staff to uphold a safety-focused culture and strong performance standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in fleet, transportation, or industrial maintenance.
• 2+ years in a supervisory or management role.
• Strong knowledge of diesel equipment, trailers, material handling equipment, or related assets.
• Working knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations.
• Proficiency with maintenance management systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day shop operations, including preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, and breakdown response.
• Ensure fleet and equipment readiness to support transportation, warehousing, and logistics operations.
• Schedule and prioritize work orders to minimize downtime and maximize asset utilization.
• Oversee inventory levels, parts procurement, and vendor relationships.
• Lead, coach, and develop maintenance technicians and support staff.
• Promote a positive, safety-focused, and accountable work culture.
• Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, FMCSA, EPA, and company safety standards.
• Lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation.
• Track KPIs such as cost per mile/hour, productivity, and equipment availability.
