Job summary

Rural King is seeking a Transportation Coordinator to direct and optimize the day-to-day operations of our private fleet. You will plan freight from Distribution Centers and external carriers, creating daily run lists to ensure timely, cost-effective and safe deliveries.

Responsibilities include scheduling routes, communicating plans to drivers and stores, coordinating load recoveries, and partnering with Safety/HR to coach drivers. Strong logistics knowledge and DOT compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of transportation experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn TMW and Peoplenet systems.
• Knowledge of logistics, including carriers, shipping policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate drivers by planning the day-to-day operations of the private fleet.
• Schedule deliveries and routing of Rural King trucks.
• Communicate daily plan to drivers, stores, and customers.
• Coordinate with Transportation Manager on driver issues and load recovery.
• Source outside line hauls to reduce empty miles and improve profitability.
• Provide customer service to stores and ensure DOT compliance.
• Monitor driver performance and conduct.
• Partner with Safety and HR for driver coaching and safety communications.
• Oversee on-call responsibilities to resolve driver issues promptly.
