Job summary

Rural King is seeking a Transportation Coordinator to direct and coordinate drivers for our private fleet. You will plan freight from Distribution Centers and outside sources, creating daily run lists to ensure timely, safe, and cost-effective deliveries.

Strong DOT knowledge and organization are essential. Responsibilities include coordinating with the Transportation Manager, communicating plans to drivers and stores, and optimizing routes while maintaining high service levels.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of transportation experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn TMW and Peoplenet systems.
• Knowledge of logistics, including carriers, shipping policies and procedures
• Strong understanding of Department of Transportation rules and regulations preferred
• Excellent verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills
• Excellent conflict resolution skills.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate drivers for the private fleet.
• Plan freight from Distribution Centers and outside freight with a daily run list.
• Ensure deliveries are timely, efficient, safe, and cost-effective.
• Communicate daily plans to drivers, stores, and customers.
• Coordinate with Transportation Manager on driver issues and load recovery.
• Seek outside line hauls to reduce empty miles and improve profitability.
• Provide customer service to stores and ensure DOT compliance.
• Monitor driver performance and discipline.
• Collaborate with Safety and HR on driver coaching and communications.
