American Material Services Inc is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our transportation and logistics team. You will maintain day-to-day financial records, process driver payroll, and manage accounts payable/receivable for our freight operations.

The role emphasizes accurate expense tracking, freight invoicing with accessorial charges, supplier payments, bank reconciliations, and weekly P&L support, ensuring cash flow and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a bookkeeper or accounting clerk.
• Preferred background in transportation, trucking, or logistics.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and advanced Excel required.
• Familiarity with TMS is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Record and categorize operating expenses (fuel, tolls, maintenance).
• Process driver payroll and related tax deductions.
• Prepare freight bills and manage accounts payable/receivable.
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements.
• Monitor cash flow and assist with weekly P&L reporting.
• Ensure compliance with IFTA and other regulations.
• Collaborate with drivers, vendors, and clients to resolve discrepancies.
