Job summary

The City of Austin is seeking an Inventory Control Specialist II for the Austin Fleet Mobility Services. This role manages warehousing, receiving, shipping, and inventory control across a large city fleet, using asset management tools.

You’ll perform cycle counts, process purchase requests, and coordinate with vendors to ensure accurate parts and timely deliveries. Responsibilities also include handling damaged items, maintaining stock levels, and operating pallet lifts or forklifts to support

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 3 years in warehouse/inventory control.
• Education may substitute for experience up to two years.
• Driver's license may be required for the position.

Responsibilities

• Receives, ships and verifies items, inspecting condition and resolving discrepancies.
• Documents goods using tracking information and providing status updates to stakeholders.
• Prepares items for shipment and determines economical shipping methods.
• Documents items shipped with transport details and lot numbers.
• Completes purchase requests by verifying inventory and processing orders, quotes and service requests.
• Replaces or repairs damaged or obsolete items following guidelines.
• Monitors inventory levels, leads times, and performs cycle counts.
• Identifies idle, excess and obsolete stock and coordinates disposition.
• Provides on-the-job training and serves as liaison among departments to resolve issues.
• Operates equipment including pallet lift and forklift.
