Job summary

The City of Austin’s Fleet Mobility Department is seeking an Inventory Control Specialist II to manage automotive parts inventory across multiple facilities. You will ensure accurate receipts, track stock, and support daily warehouse operations in a fast-paced city environment.

Responsibilities include verifying shipments, documenting inventory, performing cycle counts, and coordinating with vendors and city staff to resolve discrepancies and maintain optimal stock levels.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent plus three years of experience in a warehouse/inventory control related field.
• Education may substitute for experience up to the maximum of two years.

Responsibilities

• Receive, ship and verify items; inspect condition and resolve discrepancies.
• Document goods received/issued with tracking; provide status updates on variances.
• Prepare items for shipment and select economical shipping methods.
• Document items shipped with transport details.
• Process purchase requests; expediting deliveries and assisting with invoices.
• Replace or repair damaged items following guidelines.
• Monitor inventory and perform cycle counts; update forecasts and stock levels.
• Coordinate disposition of idle, excess, or obsolete stock.
• Provide on-the-job training and liaison among purchasing, vendors and staff.
• Operate pallet lift and/or forklift.
