Job summary

State of Ohio’s Fleet Garage Supervisor position at the Alum Creek Facility in Columbus is responsible for coordinating daily operations, supervising staff, and ensuring proper vehicle assignment based on needs. You will develop maintenance procedures and oversee recalls and inspections to align with state requirements.

The role emphasizes leadership, inventory controls, and cross‑agency coordination within the Public Safety organization.

Qualifications

  • 3 courses or 9 months of experience in record keeping/inventory control.
  • 3 courses or 9 months of experience in basic auto repair or maintenance.
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as liaison between ODPS divisions & the Fleet Office; Ensures vehicles are assigned based on employee needs.
  • Provides direct supervision to staff.
  • Formulates, creates & assigns work plans & develops procedures for conducting inventory.
  • Writes new or modifies existing maintenance procedures & implements approved procedures.
  • Coordinates daily operation of the central Fleet garage.
  • Coordinates vehicle recalls & reviews vehicle accident reports to ensure compliance with state insurance providers; Periodically reviews preventative maintenance schedules.
