Job summary

Ohio Department of Public Safety in Columbus, OH invites applications for a Software Development Specialist 2. This full-time role supports application development, testing, and QA activities at the Charles D Shipley Building.

Typical hours are 8:00am–5:00pm with OCSEA union membership and a $38.01 compensation rate. The position emphasizes systems analysis, test design, automated testing, and coordination of test scripts.

Qualifications

  • 48 mos. combined work experience in systems analysis, developing/modifying programs for computer applications and testing/implementation.
  • Option 2 requires an associate core program in computer science or information systems with 30 mos. related experience.
  • Option 3 requires undergraduate core program with 24 mos. related experience or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Designs & performs systems analysis, recommends application solutions & tests & corrects programs related to testing and implementation; assists with documentation.
  • Reviews & assists with creating test designs & test plans; creates, modifies & runs automated tests; coordinates execution of test scripts and defect tracking.
  • Works with QA leads to develop, monitor IT quality assurance standards and testing; performs performance & load testing.
  • Assists with test analysis and documentation and supports user acceptance testing.

What you’ll do as a Software Development Specialist 3:

  • Designs & performs systems analysis, recommends application solutions &/or tests & corrects programs as it relates to testing & implementation & assists with documentation.
  • Reviews & assists with creating test designs & test plans; Creates, modifies & runs automated tests; Creates & reviews test data for performing test scenarios; Coordinates execution of test scripts, debugging efforts & defect tracking, support of user acceptance testing.
  • Works with lead QA in the development, implementation & monitoring of IT quality assurance standards & testing; Performs performance & load testing.
  • Assists with the designs & performs test analysis, recommends solutions for testing software, corrects programs used for testing, assists with documentation, assists in supporting user acceptance testing.
