Job summary

VSS International, Inc. in West Sacramento, CA is seeking an experienced Equipment and Fleet Manager to lead fleet and shop operations. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, cost control, and data-driven decision-making to optimize asset availability and reliability.

You will manage budgets, vendor relationships, and performance across multiple locations, with a strong emphasis on safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of progressive fleet, heavy-equipment, or multi-shop management experience.
• Experience building or improving a preventive maintenance program and using Samsara or similar fleet-management platforms.
• Experience managing budgets, reducing operating costs, and leading fleet replacement decisions.
• Experience with fuel-card administration, registrations, inspection programs, and regulatory compliance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the daily workflow of shops, fleet maintenance, fuel, tools, and related resources.
• Set clear safety, quality, productivity, cost, downtime, and preventive maintenance targets.
• Evaluate shop structure, staffing, and workloads to improve service and cost effectiveness.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive maintenance programs via Samsara.
• Establish dashboards, targets, escalation procedures, and accountability across divisions.
• Manage annual operating plans, budgets, forecasts, and KPI reviews.
