Unknown Company in Fort Wayne, Indiana is seeking an Equipment Manager to grow with us. You will lead our equipment operation, supervise road service, manage repairs, control costs and advise leadership on equipment decisions.

You will handle breakdown calls, dispatch mobile mechanics and tow trucks, negotiate with repair shops, and track downtime and spend in Excel while supporting owner-operator expansion.

Qualifications

• Hands-on repair experience with heavy-duty trucks, trailers or similar equipment.
• Proficient in Excel and basic computer skills.
• Able to troubleshoot problems by phone with drivers on the road.
• Willingness to be on-call 24/7 for after-hours breakdowns.

Responsibilities

• Lead and build the equipment and road service operation as the owner-operator program expands
• Control repair and maintenance cost, and report trends to leadership
• Advise management on equipment decisions, vendor partners and cost-saving opportunities
• Handle breakdown calls and dispatch road service, mobile mechanics and tow trucks, day or night
• Diagnose issues over the phone with drivers and decide whether to repair on site, tow or swap equipment
• Arrange repairs and get trucks moving overnight so loads deliver on time
• Negotiate rates with repair shops, road service providers and equipment vendors
• Approve repair work, review invoices and track downtime and repair spend in Excel
