Job summary

Pratt Industries, is seeking a Dispatcher to oversee daily driver duties, negotiate rates with third-party carriers, and ensure DOT compliance for hours of service. The role requires supervisory responsibilities and strong interaction with customers and internal teams.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of dispatcher experience and a background in shipping/warehousing or CDL driving, with preference for related college or technical credentials.

Qualifications

• Two years experience as a Dispatcher.
• College and/or related technical experience in Logistics, Transportation, or Supply Chain Management preferred.
• One year supervisory experience managing at least five people.
• Four years’ experience in Shipping and Warehousing or CDL Truck Driving Experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily driver duties and route planning including time management.
• Direct the fleet movement to optimize service and cost; negotiate rates with 3rd party carriers as needed.
• Ensure DOT compliance related to hours of service when assigning loads.
• Interact with internal and external customers; manage shift handoffs between Dispatchers and Logistics Managers.
• Enter POs as needed and review driver documents for accuracy and compliance.
• Involve in selection of external carriers to take loads and supervise payroll accuracy for drivers.
• Supervise department employees and oversee training, performance appraisals, and disciplinary actions.
• Coordinate fleet repairs with vendors and manage road breakdowns; ensure safety policies are followed.
