Job summary

Medline Industries LP is seeking a Fleet Operations Manager to oversee the MedTrans fleet, scheduling and dispatching drivers, and ensuring DOT compliance. This role requires maintaining equipment and leading driver recruitment, training and discipline.

You will optimize routes, coordinate maintenance, and conduct driver meetings in line with DOT and company policies. A minimum of two years coaching staff and dispatching drivers is expected, with strong Excel/Office skills and physical stamina.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience managing and dispatching drivers and using routing software.
• At least 2 years coaching, mentoring and training staff.
• Intermediate knowledge of Transportation Costing and Motor Carrier Operations.
• Basic level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: opening a workbook, inserting a row, selecting font style and size, formatting cells as currency, using copy, paste and save functions, aligning text, selecting cells, renaming a worksheet, inserting a column, selecting a chart style, inserting a worksheet, setting margins, selecting page orientation, using spell check and/or printing worksheets).
• Basic skill level in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: inserting, rearranging, hiding and deleting slides, navigating between slides, increasing list level, adding, centering and editing text, changing views, inserting a table or a note, moving objects, printing outline view and/or running a slide show).
• Basic level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: opening a document, cutting, pasting and aligning text, selecting font type and size, changing margins and column width, sorting, inserting bullets, pictures and dates, using find and replace, undo, spell check, track changes, review pane and/or print functions).
• Ability to bend, twist, reach, push, lift for extended periods daily; Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and may have to occasionally lift up to 75 lbs; Must be able to stand for 8 hours per day for up to 6 days a week.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the safe and efficient operation of the MedTrans fleet, including maintenance scheduling and driver dispatch.
• Optimize daily routes and activities based on branch and fleet workloads and customer order information.
• Ensure all drivers are properly trained according to MedTrans requirements.
• Maintain all equipment per the MedTrans vehicle maintenance policy.
• Recruit, hire, train and discipline all drivers.
• Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with drivers as required by DOT or company policy.
• Lead day-to-day activities of employees; assign, monitor and review progress and provide technical guidance on more complex issues.
