Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a Mechanic/Technician to maintain and repair our diesel tractor fleet, trailers, forklifts, and related equipment. The role includes preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and documentation to ensure safe operation.

Starting pay is $30.70 per hour with a potential increase to $33.91 depending on experience. Eligible employees receive health, vision, and dental coverage, a 401(k) plan, tuition reimbursement, and other benefits.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma (or GED), preferred.
  • One year experience performing vehicle maintenance or completion of FedEx Freight Apprentice Program.
  • One or more Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications and Class A CDL preferred.
  • Must possess necessary tools to perform tasks.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required depending on work assignment.
  • Knowledge of testing equipment, gauges and tools used in vehicle troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Basic computer skills including maintenance programs and diagnostic systems.
  • Familiarity with gas and diesel engines.
  • Able to lift approximately 110 pounds with assistance or equipment.
  • Ability to operate vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions.
  • Paint and body work experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment.
  • Performs basic diagnostics to identify trouble sources and makes adjustments for safe operation.
  • Collaborates with other technicians on maintenance and repairs.
  • Documents maintenance accurately in reports, written and electronic.
  • Conducts safety inspections and records results.
  • Performs paint and body work as required.
  • Complies with laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Performs other duties as required.
